Christmas Shopping Etiquette – Naughty or Nice?

Posted by Diane Gordon - December 17, 2013 - Etiquette is Essential, Etiquette Tips, Journeys of Diane

Now that the Christmas season is in full swing, if you have done your shopping or gone to the malls, I am sure you can relate to this story.

It was your average Saturday afternoon, but it was a week before Christmas.  I had just arrived at Hudson’s Bay and as I walked through the men’s wear department I overheard two women arguing over the fact that one of them had made claim to the last sweater on the buy one get on free table.  Ladies please agree to disagree, flip a coin.  But please don’t make a scene!

Don’t turn the pleasure of Christmas shopping into W.W.F. match. I decided to hightail it out of there and head straight for the fragrance counter.  As I waited patiently in line to pay, I was next at cash, a fellow shopper decided they had had enough of waiting in line and decided to butt in front of me, only for the clerk to remind them that I was next.  Then in a huff, the person through down their purchase and stomped angrily away, leaving the clerk and myself in shock. Be Patient. Be Polite.

I realize that at Christmas we all have deadlines and it can be rather stressful but, please don’t take it out on your fellow shoppers or the sales staff.

Remember Santa is watching!  Etiquette is essential and good manners matter.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The trilogy was intriguing, informative and very well presented by Diane. The tailored course was specific and relevant to both my personal and professional needs. The workshop has made me more confident and has empowered me with the professional skills to succeed with my “social intelligence”. The trilogy covered all my objectives and expectations plus some. I would highly recommend to others.

Thank you so much for speaking at our staff meeting about respect in the workplace and business etiquette. We all need a reminder about the three R’s: Respect, Restraint, and Responsibility.

Diane, in just the last few months you have inspired me in so many ways. As a small business owner I have benefited greatly by learning the fundamentals of etiquette in business and social events.  Each day I learn something new which empowers me to stand out from my competition.

When I first heard about the Etiquette Essentials course I knew I had to sign up.  As a already confident woman in business, I realized I needed to ensure that my etiquette was as good if not better than my peers and people I meet.  To me, having proper etiquette is one more essential business tool that I equip myself with to give me the cutting edge.  Thanks to Diane and the Etiquette Essentials course, I now feel even more confident when in both social and business gatherings knowing I can not…

“I just wanted to drop you a short note to say thank you for such a great training session.  It was very informative, but also game me an opportunity to pay more attention to some of the things I do and how to make some positive changes.  I walked away from that session feeling like I learned something.  I can honestly say that is the first time I have ever attended a training session on etiquette and manners.  They always seem to be on client care and safety.  What a refreshing idea.  It …

“I just wanted to send you a little message to say how much I enjoyed the course at the real estate board this morning.  I found it information, helpful and fun.  In my opinion, I think every Realtor should have to take this course, it should be mandatory! I also wanted to say that I’ve admired you professionally for some time.  I’m sure you don’t remember but when I first started in the business, we had a telephone conversation and I realized you were one of the good ones.  I don’t mean to …
